Description

Built between 1931 and 1934 in a popular district south of Troyes, Notre-Dame-des-Trévois is one of the fifteen parish churches erected mainly in France and the Netherlands by the architect and Bénédictin Dom Bellot. His work is part of the liturgical and religious renewal movement of the years preceding the Second World War. Thanks to its open interior space, the church perfectly meets the new requirements of its liturgical function, while presenting total architectural coherence and a remarkable quality of execution, largely due to the careful use of the brick, the main material. The church is also distinguished by its originality, accentuated by careful attention to details and a search for various color effects. It presents a Latin cross -shaped plan extended by a polygonal apse on five sides. The facade is embellished by a statue of Notre-Dame des Trévois produced by Henri Charlier, while inside, a decor of multicolored bricks completes the whole.
