Description
It is a fortified Romanesque church which served as a refuge for the inhabitants during the wars of religion. Dating from the 12th century, it has a nave with a cradle vault, a semi-circular apse covered in oven ass, and the beginnings of visible transepts outside by two withdrawals, which shelter two small absidioles inside. It is likely that the building was fortified in the 14th century. The Courtine was built on the blank cover, advancing outside the wall, then was adjusted to allow the current cover in hollow tiles. In the south, the front door is decorated with a large lintel and a tympanum. Originally, the bell tower was probably a simple gable with arcatures to the west. According to construction elements, a bell tower was added on this gable as well as on the slopes of the nave corresponding to the last span in the 14th century. This bell tower probably suffered damage during the fire of a barn adjoining the church during the wars of religion, in 1580.
