Description
A square dungeon was probably erected in the 12th century. In 1434, Guillaume de La Rochefoucauld had most of the castle built at the end of the 15th century. After being sold during the revolution, he slowly sank into abandonment. This building has a rectangular plan, including a round tower and a covered round way. A protruding corner turret and a cottage on consoles embellish this facade. On the courtyard side, the facade has two spiral staircases. An old wing in return housed the outbuildings of the castle. This castle is an example of a building rebuilt in the 15th century, incorporating fortification elements such as a tower, a walkway, a shooting room and gunboats.
