Toulouse : Terracotta house of Virebent

At the beginning of the 19th century, the architect Virebent introduced a new style in Toulouse, thwarting the neo-classical style with eclectic and fanciful approaches, inspired by the decorative elements of the Renaissance or 17th century facades. His innovation is due to the fact that he restored one of the oldest local traditions: terracotta. This type of decoration and architecture has spread in the Toulouse region thanks to the almost industrial production, for the time, terracotta decorations of a briquettery belonging to the family turned to Launaguet. The house located at the corner of a street has a floor, with openings surrounded by terracotta frieze decorations with various patterns. Each lintel is decorated with a relief molding, with a heraldic or anthropomorphic drawing. The upper floor is wearing a flat roof, surmounted by a terracotta in terracotta.
