Description

The Ursulines community was founded in Toulouse by Louis XIII in 1611. In 1624, they moved to Granada in a house offered by the merchant Jean Dépuntis. The construction of the convent began at the beginning of the 17th century, while the facade overlooking the street dates back to the 19th century. In 1794, the place was transformed into a military hospital, resulting in certain modifications, although the wall delimiting the garden to the north retained interesting architectural elements. This wall is marked by brick facades cooked with rare openings, arches on the ground floor and mirands on the top floor. Inside, two 17th century painted ceilings remain, adorned with acanthus windings in ocher, red and black shades on a light gray background, surrounding cartridges in medallions representing landscapes. In the northwest corner upstairs, a painted wall remains visible, presenting silhouettes of angels in the middle of ledes of foliage.
