Description
The castle, which is one of the largest fortifications in Guyenne, has long belonged to the Dukes of Duras. Its structure, the plan of which is irregular, was preceded by a low protected courtyard. Today, there are only walls reinforced by buttresses and a half-moon-shaped Bastille that protected the entrance. At the southern corner of the enclosure, we find the remains of a dungeon glued to a cylindrical tower, as well as a part of the building with a staircase with a small tower. The corners of the walls of the enclosure are supported by square towers. The majority of constructions seem to date from the end of the 14th century. The outdoor windows of the dungeon come from the 15th century, as is the spiral staircase of the building.
