Agde : Building

The house was built in 1627, as indicated by the date on the portal. This portal has an interesting mixture of two door styles used in Agde. It combines a classic structure with pilasters decorated with capitals and a curved frieze, with caves moldings, which were fashionable since the 16th century and continued to be in use in Agde until the middle of the 18th century. The interior frame of the door, forming the porch arc, is decorated with three large cavets where moldings are found on the impostments. The pilasters are simple and are wearing molded capitals. The wrench, imposing, advances in a console under the arc, decorated with acanthus motif and a flat palmette. It is surmounted by a cutter displaying the date of 1627. The frieze is crossed horizontally by a large camus sausage. In the center, it presents an oval oculus with a salient frame. The whole is surmounted by a spray cornice and a broken circular pediment that surrounds a square stone with flat surface. The eardrum occupies, in the center, a tremoid boss with four tabs, framed by two very protruding flat bosses, cut into quarters.
