Description
The estate is a large set of buildings around an old priory which depended on the chapter of Saint-Nazaire. The name "Saint-Jean d'Aureilhan" was mentioned in the 9th century. The chapel, dating from the 12th century, is an integral part of the 19th century constructions. About 100 meters to the northwest, there is a circular docktop, typical of the neo-Gothic style, built at the end of the 19th century. Its light limestone structure is decorated with horizontal bands of gray limestone. Inside, three large round rooms with dome vaults are superimposed. The two highest rooms are richly decorated, with chimneys, painted and golden ornaments, as well as flamboyant neo-Gothic style furniture. The vault of the central room is ribbed, with arches in molded warheads and an armored key.
