Description
This building served as a second home at the Archbishops of Tours. Previously, the site hosted a Gallo-Roman temple and villa. The entrance is by a courtyard surrounded by outbuildings dating from the end of the 17th century, which are next to the housing built in the 19th century. Its facade dominates a large terrace with a three -sided advance, surmounted by a baroque pediment, rather unusual for this region. On the south side, two small wings in return of square were added, creating a small courtyard bordered by the ditch. To the west, a tower called Aubigny remains, a former part of the ramparts of Candes, and was restored in the 19th century. This tower overlooks a stone bridge that crosses the moats. Inside, some pieces retain decorative woodwork and 19th century wallpapers illustrating mythological scenes.
