Description
The villa was built between 1929 and 1931 for Camille Jean, a merchant from Barcelonnette and founder of the "Francia Maritima" news store in Mexico City. The architects Joseph Hiriart, Georges Tribout, and Georges Beau, who worked in Saint-Jean-de-Luz and Paris, are the creators of this villa. Its architecture is distinguished by a classic roof with large broken roosters covered with red tiles. Designed in the same Art Deco style as La Villa Leïhorra in Ciboure (see mention PA00084560), the Bleue Villa presents ferronies from Schwartz and a stained glass window of a master-glassmaker from Nancy, Jacques Gruber, who pays tribute to the success of the owner in the textile and trade sector. This stained glass window illustrates its looms, its factories, and its department store, all highlighted on a background of Mont Popocatepetl, all in shades of blue, mauve, purple, and green. The decoration of the bathroom, made in small blue glass steps, is made by Paul Daum.
