Description
In the 18th century, the Grande Rue, now called rue du Commerce, opened up to the new square through the door of the clock, which had been part of the ramparts since the 15th century. In 1758, this door was cracked and almost ruined; It was therefore decided to rebuild it next to the street, on the site of the old guard, which was also moved. The clock and its dials have been reused. The current bell was melted in Lons-le-Saunier in 1810. The tower was at the southwest corner of the street and the square, overlooking the neighboring houses with a level. Rectangular in shape, it includes a store on the ground floor, a room upstairs, as well as the floor of the clock and that of the belfry. The tower has four levels and a headband highlights the upper level.
