Description
This building illustrates the intense activity of transformation of silk in Forez, between the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. It includes a residential area and a workshop area spread over three levels (two for machines and one for the workers' dormitory). Between the two sections is a deviation from the river with the wheel that operated the machines. This mill is the first to have been equipped with a turbine, of which the transmission belts remain, the mechanism and the machines. The mill is partially buried to maintain humidity and a constant temperature.
