Description
The lordship was mentioned in the 13th century and then belonged to Alphonse de Poitiers, the brother of Saint-Louis. The castle was surrounded by an outdoor enclosure, of which only terraces and two towers still flank the main entrance. The remains of the castle include a dungeon, a tower and part of the staircase connected to the logis adjacent to the dungeon. The latter has four levels overlooking the inner home. We can see leftover wall frescoes on the second floor of the dungeon. This fortress, mainly built in the 14th century, is of particular interest because of its typically Auvergne and Vellave architecture, both by its design and by its many details.
