Nilvange : Protestant temple

At the beginning of the century, the Protestant Community of Nilvange and Knutange decided to build a temple, stimulated by the annexation and development of the steel industry. This building, built between 1909 and 1910 by the architect Eduard Fürstenau, underwent some modifications from the architect Ernst Priedat. The temple has several characteristic elements of the buildings erected during the annexation. His plan, voluntarily asymmetrical, includes a side balcony which extends to the bell tower. The importance of speech in the liturgy is put forward by the chair positioned against the balcony, the short nave, and the choice of the sermon on the mountain as the theme of the choir stained glass, made by the Zettler workshop. A false wooden vault has been favored for its acoustic properties. References to the Renaissance and regional architecture, suggested by Ficker, have been reinterpreted.
