The drilling of the two wells by cementing began in 1931 for the Compagnie des Mines de Saint-Avold, which began operating in 1942. The surface equipment was completed in 1948 with the construction of the horsepower-tour of the well 1, built by the company Barbier, Bernard and Turenne de Quiévrechain (59) for the coal centers of the Lorraine basin. This metal horsepower measures 58 m high and incorporates two extraction compartments, with two machines placed at the top.
