Description

In Thiescourt, two necropolises are side by side. The French necropolis is a regrouping site where 1266 bodies come from several cemeteries, including Écouvivre, Mareuil-la-Motte, Saint-Claude, Roye-sur-Matz and Plessis-de-Roye. The arrangement of the tombs, arranged around a central aisle, follows the usual model of French necropolises. For its part, the German necropolis contains 1095 bodies, including many victims of the 1918 fights, mainly during the "Noyon battle" in June and clashes in the Matz region in August. These two necropolises are witnesses to the violent fighting which took place in this region in the spring and the summer of 1918.
