Description
City n ° 2, known as the Electricians, was created because the Bruay Mines Company wanted to house and retain minors that it recruited from other companies to work on its pits n ° 1 and 2. Its construction ended in 1861. Erected between 1856 and 1861, the city of Electricians is therefore the oldest mining city still existing in the western area of the western area. The infrastructure has changed little since their realization, only drinking water and electricity distribution facilities have been added. Originally called according to the pit nearby, n ° 2, the city gave the streets the names of great scientists who contributed to the understanding and advancement of electricity. In 1910, the city had 43 homes, to which were added 20 shelters intended for refugee households, of which there is no trace today.
