Bulhon : Saint-Vital and Saint-Agricol Church

This Romanesque church in Auvergne was originally a chapel of the castle. It was offered to the monks of the Chaise-Dieu in 1050. The church, which is preceded by a modern bell tower, includes a nave of four spans with collaterals on the sides, as well as a transept whose square opens towards the hemicycle choir and whose arms, which do not overflow, give access to apse. The square of the transept is surmounted by a dome based on tubes. The cul-de-four vault of the apse is supported by semicircular arcs forming a series of five decorative arches. A semi-circular asshole in a cul-de-four opens on each side of the transept. This Romanesque building has maintained its original structure as well as the sculptures of its capitals. All the capitals are decorated with a basket carved with foliage, sometimes intertwined with patterns or representing animals and characters, all surmounted by a molded cutter and a toric astragal.
