Description
The creation of the Ursuline convent dates back to the year 1616. In 1623, Father Récollet was responsible for developing a plan for a convent including a dormitory, a refectory, a kitchen, a lessivière, a church and a cloister. The staircase and the cloister come from this initial construction. The wooden paintings on the ceiling of the chapel date from 1656. Between 1,700 and 1704, the architect Jareton enlarged and restored the buildings. During the Revolution, the convent was sold as a national property. The ceiling which overlooks the rectangular nave of the chapel is cashable, composed of six hundred rectangular panels, each decorated with decorations, mainly floral (bouquets, garlands, rosettes, etc.). Some of these panels display landscapes. In the small cloister, which is bordered by a row of arcades opening onto the gardens, the vault of the first span retains vestiges of paintings representing angels evolving on a cloudy background. Painted patterns have also been discovered on the inner face of the columns, each separation of span, including inscriptions surrounded by leaves and flowers, culminating at the top with a fleur -de -lis.
