Clermont-Ferrand : Massillon high school

The Massillon school was founded in 1733 with the creation of a seminar, which was first located in the Saint-Ferréol priory and then in a building specially built on Boulevard Trudaine. After the revolution, the great seminar was moved to the Convent of the Ursulines of Montferrand, while the small seminar took place in the former Bernardines convent on rue Bansac. This convent, built in 1658, had been divided into two parts. The chapter room was transformed into a refectory for medium and small students, and the dining room was reserved for teachers. The chapel was converted to the kitchen. Other buildings have been added, including the chapel. The majority of high school infrastructure are organized around a square recreation court. In the chapel, you can admire stained glass windows made by Thibaud in 1851, illustrating scenes from the life of Christ. In the 20th century, extension and redevelopment works took place, especially in the 1930s. A significant order was made to the painter Louis Dussour to embellish the most prestigious places of the establishment. The chapel of the Mastery and the entrance are decorated with Dussour frescoes, dating from 1935. The village hall presents a plywood work produced by Mr. Nicaud and Louise Cottin, illustrating the main monuments of the region.
