Description
The estate was acquired in 1896 by Baron Albert-Louis-Eugène de Dietrich (1861-1957), which built the current castle in stages: the villa forming the central part of the castle between 1899 and 1900, the western wing from 1909 to 1910, and the dining room of the garden in 1921. The set is made in the Renaissance style, incorporating numerous recovered elements. One of the salons of the villa was decorated by artist Charles Spindler in 1902, in a style influenced by Art Nouveau. The nine hectare park, designed by the Belgian landscaper Jules Buyssens in collaboration with the Baron, includes elements of English park, French garden, as well as microcosms of Italian and Japanese gardens. René-Edouard André interventions also took place in the park. The city acquired the domain in 1970.
