Description
The castle was fortified by Archbishop Renaud de Forez between 1193 and 1226. In 1293, it was downgraded to a strong house. At the end of the 15th century, the Ballarin family carried out major renovation work. In the 19th century, the castle was transformed into agricultural exploitation and in 1940, a new owner began its restoration after the Second World War. The oldest part is the triumphal arch of a Romanesque church dating from the 13th century, on which a square tower is based in the northwest dating from the 13th and 14th centuries. In the southeast is a medieval-rating tower. The main building, built in 1460, represents the Renaissance style house raised by the Ballarin. In 1959, the landscaper Bourriquand created the so -called "cozonnière" garden, which included a basin, hives, a dovecote and modern statues, notably the artist Gabriel Gouttard.
