Monestiés : Lagrasse house near the fortified door

Since 1282, the lordship of Monesties was under the responsibility of the bishops, then the archbishops, of Albi. The buildings that one can see did not date from the 16th century. At the intersection of the facades overlooking the boulevard and the courtyard, there is a turret supported by a circular cantilevered made up of five foundations with increasing diameters. This turret rises on two levels, each with a large oval opening for weapons. The facade overlooking the street displays a second floor which exceeds the first, which itself is cantilever above the ground floor. These protruding walls rely on reinforced wooden beams, with stone crows at the ends and the center. Part of the ground floor is occupied by a store, which includes a gateway and two arcades in the shape of an arc in basket handle. The semicircular door is flanked by two pilasters that support an architrave. Three pilasters, similar to those of the door, frame the two large bays.
