Description
The building was acquired by the Carmelites in 1617. The Sisters of the Cross founded their community there in 1674. The house was sold during the French Revolution. On a stripped facade, a wooden door with an ironwork top opens in a semicircular arcade, whose molded arc rests on also molded box springs and is extended by angular piédroits. Two ionic pilasters, resting on backsplashes, frame this opening. They support an ion entertainment decorated with a cut circular pediment. In the center of the gate and between the sides of the pediment is a niche, the upper part, spherical, is carved in shellfish, while the vertical part contains a small window. This niche has probably housed a statue that has since disappeared. It is surrounded by two modillion pilasters which support a small triangular pediment. Two sculpted scrolls, decorated with acanthus leaves, connect the whole on the lower pattern. Above the pilasters and sides of the circular pediment, two vases with flames complete the decor. This could be the front door of the Carmelite Chapel, dedicated in 1618, reused in this building.
