Description
The first mention of this property dates back to the 16th century. In 1606, it was acquired by Marguerite de Valois, then in 1655, it became the property of the Séminaire de Saint-Sulpice. The whole was partially dismantled during the Revolution, then reorganized after the Concordat of 1801. Important renovations were necessary following the destruction caused by the events of the Paris Commune. Today, we can still see: the vaulted passage developed around 1599; an Italian -inspired nymphea built between 1609 and 1615; a circular basin dating from the 17th century; The main building of the seminar, rebuilt after 1871; The Notre-Dame-de-Toutes-Grâces chapel erected by seminarians in 1808; The large chapel, built between 1898 and 1901 by the diocesan architect Édouard Bérard, with stained glass produced by Félix Gaudin and Léon Tournel; The Lorette building, built in 1930 in the park and accessible by a tunnel, which houses the Notre-Dame-de-Lorette chapel (initially from the 17th century, but rebuilt after its destruction in 1871); and the buildings of loneliness, including a neo-Gothic chapel, made in 1842.
