Description
La Faye dates from the 13th century and was the center of a large lordship. Louis Gabriel settles there and transforms the medieval home into a more friendly home. The family must leave the premises during the revolution. In the 19th century, the chapel was destroyed, the main building was rid of various annexes and surrounded by a garden, with mullions added to the windows and a reorganization of the interior spaces. An alley of chestnut trees, accompanied by two dependencies and a farm buildings, leads to the castle, which is erected on a plateau surrounded by a moat formerly powered by three ponds. A bridge crosses the ditch to the north. The castle consists of two perpendicular wings. The north-south wing, in medieval style (15th century), retains its structure and its architectural details (gables, mullion windows ...) and houses old kitchens, barns, workshops and attics. The east-west wing, covered with broken sides roofs, is flanked by a square tower to the east and a small advance to the west. It contains the residential parts.
