Description
The street takes its name from a hotel whose turrets exceeded the highest houses in the surrounding area. The stronghold of Plessis is located in the town of Saint-Sulpice, near Cognac. During the wars of the Middle Ages, its owners considered protecting both their safety and their richness by editing their hotel in the fortified walls of Cognac. The construction of this gable building probably dates from the beginning of the 15th century. There remains a part of the gable as well as a hexagonal tower with a protrusion in a protruding. The facade overlooking rue Saint-Martin was probably carried out in the 17th century, then modified in the 19th. Inside, there is no original element.
