Description
The building that contains this door was the old town hall of Cognac for most of the 18th century. It is located on a street which, according to tradition, was that of the richest families in the city at the time. This door dating from the 17th century has two protrusions of the wall. It is framed by two very flat fluted pilasters, each surmounted by a second pilaster, both with an ion marquee. In the center is a molded semicircular arc, the key of which is decorated with a very prominent console -shaped keystone, decorated with a palmette. In the bits between the arc and the pilasters, there are patterns of foliage. The upper part of the pilasters is decorated with a frieze with two interlacing of different sizes. This entablature supported a pediment that protrudes from the wall, with pots over fire at its ends.
