Description
The remains that can be seen belong to a 14th century castle, which was later bought by Louise de Savoie, the widow of the Duke of Orleans. Catherine de Médicis stayed there in 1586. It was a rectangular building which had two turrets in the southern corners. Although built in the 16th century, it was modified in the 17th and 18th centuries. Each floor is accessible by a gallery. The surrounding park is the work of the landscaper Edouard André. This park includes a labyrinth of boxwood where the future Henri IV played, as well as a large body of water decorated with bronze animal statues.
