Estivals : Saint-Barthélémy Church

The Romanesque church is a fortified construction which has a nave covered with a cradle vault and a polygonal apse with a cul-de-four. Inside, there are two slightly curved double arches based on committed columns, decorated with three geometric style capitals and another with patterns of stylized leaves. The triumphal arch is semicircular. The entrance porch is decorated with columns with sculpted capitals. A gable, which served as a bell tower, is pierced with arcades. To the west, there was a cantilevered service gallery, some crows of which still remain. This gable is now integrated into a part that was enhanced in the 14th century to protect the population during English bands. This elevation included three levels, separated by two floors, with four arches and two windows. A small chapel dating from the 16th or 17th century was added on the southern face. The parish was mentioned from the beginning of the 9th century. In 823, she was given with her village in Saint-Rodolphe de Turenne, in partnership with her sister took it, who later became Abbess of Sarrazac in Quercy. His sister sold his share to him in 847, and in 860, when the prelate founded the Abbey of Beaulieu, this parish was included in his act of donation.
