Description
This church is part of a series of sanctuaries typical of the Millevaches plateau, characterized by its apse with cut sides, a bell tower on the porch, and a small bell on the roof. A priory was established in Ventadour by the Viscounts of Comborn-Ventadour shortly before 1116. Originally located in the castle, it was then extended outside it. This priory was attached to the order of Cluny, who was in charge of appointing its managers. The current church was rebuilt in 1494 and came from the transformation of a 12th century church. Outside, you can still see the cornice of the bedside, and inside, the columns of the triumphal arch with their capitals, as well as two windows on the southern facade. The western facade was restored in 1786.
