Description
The castle was erected in the 16th century by the Pontier family, who had left Aix-en-Provence because of the wars of religion. Its construction took place on the site of the Pyrat Besse Besse, whose last heiress married a member of the Pontier family. The facades overlooking the courtyard, the inner staircase, as well as the imposing fireplace also date from the 16th century. Lambris were added in the 17th century. The main building has a rectangular shape and is flanked, on the side of the Vézère, of two circular turrets to the angles. A rectangular enlargement shelters the double -volley staircase. The southern tower has a dome vault made of scallops.
