Description
This tower is the last element of a large fortress dating from the end of the 11th century, which was located on a clod (referenced around 1094). In 1176, Adhémar V, viscount of Limoges, having been part of an alliance against Richard Coeur de Lion, the latter had several castles destroyed, including that of Salon. At that time, in addition to the watchtower, two fortified doors, called the Vigiers and the Bouboux, were still in place. The tower has a square plan, with eight buttresses combined with angles in the shape of a north wall has a door located in height, accessible by a scale. At the penultimate level, you can see the vestiges of a cantilevered structure, probably the remains of a Bretèche. There are also loopholes.
