After the siege of Duras in 1370, the Duke of Anjou and the Guesclin took control of the castle, which was then attributed to Archambaud Yv, count of Périgord. The castle, surrounded by fortified walls and towers, has retained its long main building flanked by square towers with breeze and mullion windows. In the interior courtyard, there is a door of the Louis XIV style, decorated with a wrought iron stalker.
