Description
The Librairie-Papeterie Vivès, opened at the beginning of the 20th century, is distinguished by its Art Nouveau style storefront, which is relatively rare in Toulouse. This store has ceased to be a bookstore and, after a recent restoration, its facade is now that of a passenger hotel. The building is on the site of an old college founded by Pierre de Montruc, cardinal of Pampelonne. The decoration, made of stucco, formerly covered all the underside of a romantic building built in the second half of the 19th century. The window, with its wooden chassis, has a network of winding lines, a pattern which is also found on the walls and in the upper part of the arc. The consoles supporting the balcony take up this rich plant theme. From these two consoles, brewed foliage rush on a background of drapery which adorns the whole facade.
