Saint-Félix-Lauragais : LAUDOT EPANCOIR

Laudot's effinchery is a regulatory structure located at the place where the channel of the plain joins the Laudot stream, which receives the waters of Saint-Ferréol. Its functions are as follows: 1 - Facilitate the entrance to the waters of the Audot and Saint -Ferréol in the channel. 2 - evacuate the excess waters to the lower course of the audot. 3-Direct the troubled waters from Saint-Ferréol, when emptying the dam, towards the same course without mixing them with those of the channel, while continuing to feed the channel via the grip of the CROUZET bridge. 4 - Block the course of the channel to prevent the waters from progressing during the flood period of the Audot or the REVEL channel. Although they are rarely mentioned, and even less often explained or illustrated, the essays of the Audot constitute a unique and captivating set to analyze. The dimensions of the stones are typical of the 18th century, and agree with the date of 1761 registered on a stone of the wall opposite the house of the guard. As an important structure, fairly rare and of a good aesthetic quality, the spanking up of the Laudot, which is in good condition, is one of the rare works of the canal to only use stone as a building material.
