Description
Built in 1571, the Mourvilles-Hautes windmill is the oldest in the southwest of France. Its mechanisms, also very old, date from the 17th century, with for example a date on 1682 on one of the vertical wooden axes, as well as inscription in the name of the Movy Pastre. Its trunk tower has a double steps, wings with wooden crosspieces which can rotate thanks to puller, and a roof in voliges. These elements are accompanied by remarkable milling mechanisms because of their age. The mill is linked to another 18th century mill which is not protected, as well as at the Maison du Meunier, registered with the old mill since 1988. These protections were put in place following ethnological research carried out in the Lauragais region.
