Description
The quality of the construction and materials used for this 18th century aqueduct-Siphon, which allows rose and Joncasse streams to go under the Canal du Midi, is remarkable. This siphon aqueduct, built between 1734 and 1735 according to the plans of Clapiès, is distinguished by the excellence of its design and its execution, including one of the first uses of hydraulic lime. In addition, it illustrates the rivalry between the engineers of the king and those of the province for the management of public works, which led to an implementation quality of execution. Although some heads are partly damaged, the original masonry are still present.
