Description
According to tradition, the first sanctuary was built at the end of the 11th century, after the Virgin appeared to a farmer. This building was destroyed in 1568 by the Huguenots of Montauban. The chapel was rebuilt in 1674, thanks to the lords of Montaigut. In 1688, interior ornamentation work began in the choir. Two side chapels were added between 1780 and 1782. In 1795, the whole was sold to individuals. From 1860 to 1863, the chapel was the subject of a restoration, including the portal. The cloister which offered a shelter and welcomed pilgrims was converted into a covered atrium. Inside, there is a carved, golden or painted wooden decor, as well as a box with boxes painted with symbols associated with the Virgin drawn from her litanies.
