Bordeaux : Cross of the old Saint-Projet cemetery

Only the barrel of the cross is old. The cross itself was redone at the beginning of the 20th century, being a faithful reproduction of the original or inspired by a cross of that time. The cross is mentioned in a document dating from 1518. The base of the barrel consists of a square plinth surmounted by a base of the same form which goes to the octagon. It is surrounded by four pilasters, which act as buttresses and are surmounted by bells, united in the center by arcs with a butt. The extrados of these arcs is decorated with curly cabbage, while the intrados presents a polylobed shape. These arches serve as support for four small statues. The feet of these figures are based on partially committed hexagonal pilasters, which rise between foothills and are decorated with flamboyant decorations. Above these canopies, the octagonal barrel rises by shrinking to the cornice.
