Description
The most significant foundation in Entre-deux-Mers is that of the Sauve-Majeure abbey. The church, of which part of the southern walls dates from the 11th century, is in a novel style and was rebuilt in the 14th century with a single nave with flat bedside and a western facade with a bell tower. Towards the end of the 15th century or at the beginning of the 16th century, a north aisle was added and the bell tower has been transformed into a bell tower. The choir paintings were carried out in the middle of the 19th century. On the south side, we can still see the remains of the medieval priory.
