Description
The Capuchin Convent, founded in 1899, served as a hospital for blind soldiers during the First World War. The Capuchin brothers returned to it in 1925 and asked for architects Auguste and Gustave Perret to build a chapel, scheduled for 1899. This chapel, which is in the west wing of the convent, was reduced compared to the initial plans due to financial constraints. It is built in reinforced concrete and cement concrete blocks arranged in checkered, and decorated with a marouflaged painting produced by Madame Masse. In 1970, the convent was sold at the medico-psycho-pedagogical center of the department of Indre-et-Loire, which transformed the chapel into a gym. The building was protected to prevent the risks linked to the extension of the Clocheville hospital.
