Description
This hotel, which has 162 rooms, was built in 1928 by the Parisian architect André Granet, in collaboration with two architects of Dax, Albert Pomade and Jean Prunetti. Opened in October 1929, it was part of a complex with the neighbor Atrium-Casino; Roger-Henri Expert, another Parisian architect, worked with Granet on the first plans which envisaged two casinos and several hotels. The Splendid hotel, up to the level of the melet, was built on the ruins of the Dax-Salin-Thehermal establishment, which dated from 1894 and had been designed by the architect Pierre Esquié, before being destroyed by a fire in July 1926. It also had thermal treatment rooms in the basement. The large staircase is illuminated by a wall made by the Genet and Michon glassmakers. Its impressive facade is decorated with arcades. The ground floor houses a large hall, a dining room and a smoking room with Art Deco design.
