Description
In the 1930s, the Ministry of Air decided to build an international airport for transatlantic hydravions in Biscarrosse. The work began in 1937 and the first flights were launched in 1938, even if the infrastructure is not yet fully completed. During the war, the airport was occupied by the German army, then it was destroyed and rebuilt after the end of the conflicts, with modern equipment. It remained in operation until 1955 and was then attributed to the Ministry of the Armed Forces in 1962. In 1992, the two metal hangars were withdrawn, the former passenger hotel was transformed into a summer camp, while the vessels of the watch are left abandoned.
