Aire-sur-l'Adour : 14th century house

This house has two facades overlooking the street. The base of its walls is made up of an alternating arrangement of yellow stones and very large bricks, similar to the Gallo-Roman masonry, but which was still used in the region at the Romanesque time. The upper part was later renovated with bricks. It includes two windows: one with columns supporting two broken arcs, and the other with a simple bevelled cross. Between these two windows, there is a gargoyle to evacuate the waters. In mid-height, a series of stone crows seems to have been used to support a wooden structure, such as joists or posts, which formed the base of a disappeared section of wood. The facade on Plainhaut Street has a door, reused in the 15th century, with a monolith lintel decorated with a hug. This house belonged to the church and was deemed to be the home of officiality.
