Description
On the site of a Gallo-Roman villa, where mosaics were discovered in the abbey building, a Benedictine abbey was built. There is a church dating from the 12th century and an abbey building at the end of the 13th century. Although this abbey has been ravaged several times during the wars of religion, the church and the abbey building survived. At the end of the 17th century, the Benedictines of the Congregation of Saint-Maur set out to restore convent buildings. Additional restoration work took place in the 19th century. This site is also a crossing point on the way to Saint-Jacques-de-Compostela.
