Audignon : Notre-Dame Church

In the 12th century, the church had a single nave with large discharge arcs and a choir in the shape of a Roman style apse. In the 16th century, a bell tower was added to the west, followed in 1550 by the construction of the southern aisle. The north aisle was carried out in the 18th century. The capitals with patterned water leaves from the apse come from the Saint-Sever school. The triumphal arch of the apse rests on two capitals: that of the south, of Syrian style, illustrates the epiphany, while that of the north represents a votive offering. The southern aisle is covered with a ivy and tiercers vault. In the bell tower-porch, a portal opens onto the nave, with legs and listel columns based on a plinth, as well as a cantilevered bench. A headband decorated with masculine and female grotesque links connects four areas of the sausage. Outside, the cornice decorated with modillions is supported by two soil columns, ended by carved capitals. The bell tower-porch was formerly a dungeon.
