Description
The periods of construction extended from the 12th century to 1793. This vast and significant area in military and leisure architecture belongs to the Clisson and the Rohan. It encompasses the castle, its park, its forest, its hydraulic developments and its agricultural land. According to a decree, the castle was built between 1100 and 1108. In 1262, Duke Jean de Bretagne took possession of the castle, which lost four of its towers. The ruins are restored between 1262 and 1320 by Olivier II the young person, who developed the little chastel. At the end of the 15th century, John II of Rohan embellished the house of the king and the queen, adding the chapel and the surrounding walls. In 1591, the castle was besieged on the orders of Mercoeur. In the 17th century, he was dismantled in order of Richelieu.
