Place Mellinet, created at the site of the old property of Launay, constitutes an urban planning project which is part of the development of Nantes to the west and the port. Designed according to the plans of the architects Blond and Amouroux in 1827, this octagonal place was surrounded by eight mansions with identical facades, each with a park at the back. Their construction spread from 1828 to 1874. This project represents a unique example of the architecture of catering in Nantes.
