Description
The construction of the lighthouse begins at the beginning of the 19th century. The masonry of the tower was completed in 1841, followed by the completion of the base building in 1842. In 1883, work was carried out to set up a new electric lighting system, as well as an annexed building and housing for the goalkeepers. After being destroyed during the Second World War, the rear was only partially rebuilt with a small rectangular building. The lighthouse includes a square base building surmounted by a cylindrical tower. The base building has three spans and a 15th century Florentine style door. The whole is covered with a white coating, while the upper part is painted in black. The tower is full, with a central cylinder which houses the winch mechanism. A spiral staircase surrounds this cylinder and leads to a landing room. A metal staircase provides access to the standby room, followed by another which leads to the Chamber of the Lantern, rebuilt after the war of 1939-45. In the center, a cast iron column supports the lantern floor and optical equipment.
